Orant Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how 18246955 Canada Inc., operating as Babanorth Labs ("we", "us"), handles information when you use Orant, our Christian prayer and Bible app for Android and iOS (the "App").

We are a federal corporation based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Summary

• You can use most of Orant without an account.
• Your journal, check-ins, and settings are stored on your device.
• If you create an account, we store your email and the progress and content you choose to sync or share.
• Orant shows ads from Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers.
• We do not sell your personal information.

2. Information we collect

a) Information stored only on your device

Your app settings, journal entries, check-ins, reading position, prayer counts, and similar data are saved locally on your phone. We cannot see this data unless you sign in and choose to sync it (see below). It is deleted when you uninstall the App. [CHECK] confirm the journal and check-ins are never uploaded to the server.

b) Account information (optional)

If you create an account, we collect:

• Your email address and a password (stored securely as a hash by our backend software, never in plain text).
• Your app preferences (for example, light or dark appearance).
• Progress and activity you sync: quiz progress and scores, streaks, active days, reading plan progress, saved prayers, favorites, and prayer statistics.

c) Content you share with others (optional)

If you use community features, we store what you post, including prayer requests, posts, comments, "I prayed" responses, prayer groups you create or join, and group check-ins. Other users of the App may see content you share publicly or with your group. If you report content, we store the report so our moderators can review it. Please don't post anything you want to keep private.

d) Questions you ask ("Ask")

When you ask a Bible question in the App, the text of your question is sent to our server to look up a prepared answer. We do not link these questions to your account. [CHECK] confirm whether questions are logged and for how long.

e) Advertising and device information

The App uses Google AdMob to show ads. AdMob may automatically collect information such as your device's advertising ID, IP address, device type, operating system, approximate location (from IP address), and how you interact with ads. See section 4.

f) Permissions

• Notifications, and Alarms & reminders (Android): to deliver the prayer reminders you set. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
• Background audio: so guided audio keeps playing when your screen is off.
• Casting: if you cast audio to a Chromecast or Google TV, the Google Cast service is used to find devices on your local network.

We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or precise location.

3. How we use information

• To provide the App and its features, and to sync your progress across devices.
• To run community features and keep them safe (moderation and handling reports).
• To show ads, which keep the App free.
• To respond to your support requests.
• To keep the App secure and fix problems.

4. Ads and personalization

Orant shows ads served by Google AdMob. Google may use your device's advertising ID to show ads based on your interests (personalized ads) and to measure ad performance. You can control this:

• Android: Settings > Google > Ads, then delete your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalization.
• iOS: when asked, you can choose not to allow tracking. You can change this any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Where the law requires it (for example in the EU, UK, or Switzerland), we ask for your consent before showing personalized ads. [CHECK] the code does not yet use Google's consent form (UMP) or the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt. Add these before launching in those regions and on iOS, or edit this section.

5. Third-party services

We use these services to run the App. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Google AdMob (ads): Google Privacy Policy, and AdMob data disclosure.
• Google Cast (optional casting): Google Privacy Policy.
• Cloudflare (hosts the Bible question service): Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
• Our account server (PocketBase, run by us at api.orant.online): stores account, sync, and community data. [CHECK] add the hosting provider and the country where this server is located.
• Google Play and Apple App Store (app distribution): Google, Apple.

We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting tools in the App. [CHECK] the App uses the google_fonts package, which may download fonts from Google's servers unless the fonts are bundled in the App.

6. Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers above so they can run the App for us, when you choose to share content with other users, or when the law requires it.

7. Where your data is stored

Your information may be stored and processed outside Canada, including in the United States, where our service providers operate. It may then be subject to the laws of those countries.

8. Data retention

• On-device data stays on your phone until you delete it or uninstall the App.
• Account data is kept while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account and associated data within 30 days, except where we must keep something by law. [CHECK] confirm 30 days works for you, and whether server backups are kept longer.
• Support emails are kept as long as needed to help you, and then deleted.
• Ad data collected by Google is kept according to Google's policies.

9. Children's privacy

Orant is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Community features and accounts are meant for users 13 and older. [CHECK] the App includes some family and children's meditations; confirm the target age you chose in Google Play Console, because a younger audience requires different ad settings. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your rights and choices

Under PIPEDA and other applicable laws, you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or withdraw your consent. To do this, email info@babanorthlabs.com from the email address linked to your account. We'll reply within 30 days.

Delete your account: email us with the subject "Delete my Orant account." You can also sign out and uninstall the App to remove on-device data.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

11. Security

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the App and our servers and take reasonable steps to protect your information. No method of storage or transfer is completely secure.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We'll post the new version on this page and change the effective date above.
